The RoofSell widget accepts US and Canadian street addresses, and the homeowner has to pick the address from the suggestion list that appears as they type. Those are the 2 rules behind supported address formats. The details below cover the edge cases.
Address formats that work
- A house number and street, such as 123 Main Street. Suggestions start after 3 characters.
- A full address with city, state or province, and ZIP or postal code.
- Addresses with a unit or apartment number.
- Properties in the United States and Canada.
Address formats that don't work
- Addresses outside the US and Canada.
- A city, ZIP code or street name on its own, without a house number.
- Business names and intersections.
- Typing a full address and pressing Enter. The homeowner has to click one of the suggestions.
How the address is saved
Once picked, the address is saved in full, for example 123 Main Street, Springfield, Illinois 62701, USA. The city becomes the lead's Market, which you can filter by on the Dashboard. The page the homeowner was on is saved in the URL column.
Condos, townhouses and multi-unit buildings
A unit number puts the right building on the map, but the roof outline covers the building at that spot, not one unit's share of it. For attached homes, check the outline on the quote page and edit it if it takes in the neighbors.
If an address won't show up at all, or the map can't find the building, see what to do when an address is not found.
